We are looking for an IT Software Apprentice who will join our Software Support team. You’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks throughout the Software Division at OGL as you develop your skills and progress your IT career.

This opportunity is a very ‘hands-on’ role and previous experience of problem solving, providing telephone support, and knowledge of software programming would be advantageous. Your days will be varied, but the types of tasks you’ll be responsible for include: logging customer support incidents, collating reports and statistics as well as daily systems checks. You’ll need to be prepared to learn and develop, enjoy building relationships with customers and take pride in representing the OGL brand. We are very proud of our meticulous attention to detail, high standards, and customer service, so the right candidate will need to be customer focused to  ensure our customers are given the level of service expected of a reputable 40 plus year business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Log customer support incidents (via phone and email)
  • Prepare quotes and correspondence for customers
  • Collate statistics and reports
  • Monitor releases
  • Undertake daily system checks
  • Update customers on progress of calls
  • Carry out procedures on customer request

Working week

  • 8.30am – 5.30pm (Mon – Thurs) 8.30am – 5pm (Fri)
  • Total hours per week: 38.25
  • Weekly wage: Competitive salary
  • Expected duration: 2 years

Training to be provided

The successful candidate will undertake a two year nationally recognised qualification through TDM.

This is a work-based learning programme which will require commitment to block weeks in a training room once every quarter working towards the qualification along with weekly off the job training and monthly coaching sessions. You will be required to demonstrate through the standard that you meet all competencies and behaviours which will lead to the acheivement of the qualification. These block weeks will take place at either of our training centres, in Birmingham or Worcester, whichever is more suitable for your location.

You will have a designated mentor in the workplace to support your learning and at the end of programme will be assessed via an external assessment body.

This is a Level 4 qualification.

  • KM1 Software Developer Methodologies
  • KM2 Software Languages
