IT Infrastructure Technician Apprentice

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally recognised company. We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Technician Apprentice to join the team, so you will be passionate about IT, have a demonstrable knowledge of computer hardware and software and be enthusiastic to work with our customers to ensure the smooth running of their IT equipment.

The daily duties will include:

  • Support users, guiding and assisting them in efficient use of standard IT products and services
  • Work collaboratively with the Global IT group, providing input into Group IT technology standards and strategy
  • Identify service improvements through engagement with users and their use of IT
  • Provide local administration of server infrastructure including backups, storage, networks, and security
  • Install, upgrade and maintain effective use of desktop and IT services across the business environment
  • Investigate and diagnose desktop service problems, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate
  • Assist regional transformation and local IT investment programmes
  • Receive and log requests for support. Prioritise requests in accordance with agreed criteria
  • Provide first line support by applying known solutions or work-arounds, or gathering information for escalation
  • Ensure that support key performance indicators (KPIs) are within specified limits
  • Timely and effective handling of enquiries and IT requests
  • Create and maintain procedures and documentation for IT services

  • Develop adequate knowledge of health and safety regulation within relevant areas

  • Knowledge of Windows desktop and core desktop applications e.g. MS Office

Working week

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday: 8:00am – 1:30pm
  • Total hours per week: 35.00
  • Weekly wage: £157.50
  • Expected duration: 18 months

Training to be provided

  • Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprentice qualification together with on site training by the employer.
  • For those starting at Advanced (Level 3), the expected duration would be eighteen months. There is an opportunity to progress on to the Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) and ultimately on to a Degree Apprenticeship.
