It’s fair to say that the last year has been tough for many people for many, many different reasons. Some people have had a devastating year, facing furlough, redundancy or mental health issues during restrictive and successive lockdowns. The arrival of 2021 has not been without it complications, but a new year can still mean new opportunities, new prospects and potentially a new career!
Derrin Kent, TDM’s MD & Director of Studies said:
“I do think it is time for people to power on, now.”
“Everyone has had an awful and confusing year, but the UK’s economy will pick up. We need digital experts for the digital industries, not only for Digital Sector employers, but also for all employers. Digital skills are the golden thread across all employer organisations.”
“You should use this time valuably as an employer, apprentice or digital retainer. Power on – start improving your skills right now!”
In a time of uncertainty, one thing is for sure, tech and digital has been a constant. From living on Zoom calls, keeping in touch with family and friends and even learning a new cool dance routine on TikTok. We have lived in a heightened digital age for some time now, but our current situation has meant pressing down firmly on that accelerator, catapulting us all into a tech and digitally dependant world. To now thrive and succeed on a global stage, the UK needs to both develop tech and digital skills and, equally importantly, to address our workforce productivity gap.
So, how has it effected your world? Is your company changing? Are you feeling the need to upskill yourself and ‘level up’ your tech and digital skills to keep succeeding? Are you unemployed as a result of COVID or looking for a new challenge in 2021? Then it’s time to Power On for 2021!
How can we help?
Recognise regional requirements, the region needs tech and digitally skilled people and the tech and digital sector needs you!
Whether employed or unemployed, start and further your tech and digital career through an apprenticeship route, whilst developing practical employee skills which benefit the UK and its regions. TDM can help by coaching and training you through a continuously renegotiated work-based learning plan (featuring a systematic coaching and training process which incorporates short courses and virtual learning). We coach and train employees to achieve and exceed industry led standards and thrive within that industry via an apprenticeship.

Get Ahead in Digital Transformation Programme
The Development Manager (TDM) has secured funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority to pilot this coaching support programme. Digital technologies continue to advance rapidly with new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, 5G Networks and the Internet of Things changing the workplace and therefore, the requirements of the workforce.
Get Ahead in Digital Transformation is a 6 month GROW Coaching Programme, supporting employed people to add new digital accountabilities to their roles or to help unemployed people into new roles with digital accountabilities. As part of the programme, learners can engage with tech and digital courses that will each take a minimum of 3 months to improve their knowledge and skills in the area.
With this funding and the courses on offer we aim to help grow the regional economy by enabling businesses to harness this technologies through improved skills in the workforce, helping people move from jobs roles that are dwindling into new jobs roles that are booming.
